I finally found a juvenile bald eagle at Mason Neck State Park, a half hour south of D.C. It was virtually impossible to get the eagle in focus (gear used: A6400 + 70-350G). The camera always focused on one of the twigs or branches in front of the bird. I used MF only, all AF shots were totally off. My question for all A6700 users: Does AI-AF recognize the bird's eye in such a situation?
