Totality with the R6 Mk2
7

I was fortunate to find a patch of clear sky in between the clouds. I have seen the photos and the videos but it is not comparable to seeing this phenomenon in person. Warm sunlight washed over your face as you look up. Suddenly the landscape around you darkens like nighfall. You have seen the sun and the moon a thousand times but not like this. The oohs and the awes are well deserved and you know why.

Photographed south of Ottawa in the path of totality along the St-Lawrence River. Did a lot of driving past many stretches of clouds. Turning back and heading west suddenly the sun shown on my car and that's when I exited the highway to a rest area where many others had gathered for the same purpose.

I almost missed totality by fiddlingg with the Nikon P900 auto-focus. Chucked it and grabbed my R6 MK2 and Canon 100-400L IS lens (v.1). A lens I have had for 20 years now. Added a 1.4x and Totality was amazing to see in person.
