Horrible April Fool joke: Evil Sony 3:2 medium format sensor
Sony’s New 19200 X 12800 = 247-Megapixel Sensor IMX811-AAQR Implies 108 Megapixels for 35mm Format
"However, this technology at present has an aspect ratio of 3:2, at odds with the 4:3 aspect ratio of Phase One, Hasselblad and Fujfilm medium format which all use 4:3 sensor."
Honestly, I feel that's very uncool.
Don't you feel weird to release a 3:2 medium format sensor in 2024 right after over 10 years of 4:3 medium format since IMX 161?
So why didn't they do develop 3:2 MF sensor from day1 in early 2010? Yes I know *4.2 format, and IMX411 150mp sensor is special but I just don't get if there a need for another new 3:2 format MF sensor in such small user market?
Can't help remembering the old arrogant Sony from 90s and this whole dejavu circle of GREED from excellent 35mm DSLR 3:2 full frame, 3:2 dlsr aps-c and driving consumers to extreme to adopt mirrorless cameras starting with M4/3 in 2010, spreading to other formats later.
Some EVIL mad scientists going in circles wasting everyone's time, brain power and money when we JUST need more time to go out, shoot and enjoy photography.
Anyway - so near future, we are looking at *3 different format (or more coming soon like 16:9 MF sensor !??) for digital medium format cameras?
- 4:3
- 4.2
- and new 3:2 medium format sensors
What a nightmare, and seriously a horrible April Fool joke. lol
