What does it mean for a software to be the "Holy Grail?"
It means you have to get past the Knights who say "Ni!", and optionally provide a Shrubbery 😉

Being serious for a second, to most native English speakers, it means "the best", or "perfect" choice. There's also often an implication that it doesn't actually exist. The original Holy Grail is part of the legend of King Arthur.
I'm quite familiar with Percival and Galahad's quest, thank you very much.
Still doesn't answer the question.
What was he looking for? A software package that would resuscitate his flagging spirits and allow him to unite spiritually with photography? "I and the camera are one!"
Generally what Holy Grail means is the ultimate, the best, the one everyone wishes for.
Britannica Dictionary definition of HOLY GRAIL
holy grail : something that you want very much but that is very hard to get or achieve.
- Finding a cure for cancer is the holy grail of medical researchers.
Hopefully this will help.
As I recall it didn’t go that well for the knights who tried to find it 😀
