Does anyone here know if this plate has the safety pins?

What are that?

(I could easily check it as I've just received my own one, (35€ in Amazon Spain)).

Nevertheless, Smallrig also has a L-cage (half-cage) if you prefer it. And it's different from the Neewer one Newbie Phewbie posted because the vertical part is in front of the camera so the screen will perfectly rotate.

I post a link to Amazon Spain but I suppose it would be available also in Canada (or half the world, BTW). More over, although it is valid for quite some a6x00 cameras, it's displayed over a greyed out a6700:

https://www.amazon.es/SMALLRIG-Liberaci%C3%B3n-Incorporada-Montura-Zapata/dp/B0CF519NC4?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

(But the Smallrig L-plate hasn't got extended grip... Therefore I feel it's much worse than the simple bottom plate unless you want it to add "things" onto the camera).

I don't see any comments or pictures of the plate in a portrait position.

!?!?!?

I don't follow you. You cannot mount the plate in other position than the designed one where it's screwed to the bottom tripod hole...
