I agree 100% with other members suggesting the XC 50-230mm. It is probably the most VFM zoom lens in the system, especially when found second-hand at low prices. For me along with my beloved 10-24mm is the perfect travel combo (unless shooting mostly at night is a must :

I actually considered it for a long time before I bought the 55-200. I liked the photos of the 55-200 better and wasn't disappointed. So I'm very sure I don't want to take that road now.

You might want to revisit your thinking by reviewing any number of threads discussing the XC 50-230. The vast majority of posts have those who say "I won't go with that lens because (too slow, XC - no aperture ring, plastic mount) and the there are those who have the lens and say it is much-used, great for travel, good IQ even wide open. Virtually no one says they have or had the lens and found it lacking.

I'm primarily a prime shooter because I value image quality and light weight. If I had to keep only one zoom - it would be the XC 50-230 without hesitation. The XF 70-300 and the XF 18-55 would have to go.

It's not that I'm underestimating the capabilities of the XC 50-230. I just noticed, back when I had the 55-200, that my use case seems to be different. I wasn't really taking it out of the bag when most of my photos were being done with my standard and wide primes anyway. That's why I'm erring to an all-in-one zoom now. Actually, I wished there were zooms that were somewhere between 18 and 50 on the wider end, e.g. a 30-150. I still have my Samyang 12/f2 and Fuji 18/f2 if I need to go wider. There's only the standard zooms (16-18 up to something tele) and then there's the tele zooms.

It's particularly annoying because Fuji doesn't have any small tele prime longer than the 60mm. And there's hardly any 3rd party options available: There's the Primoplan 75mm but I can't even find how long it is in Fuji X mount. Samyang has a few MF options (75/1.8, 85/1.8) and there's a few Chinese as well but those can be hit&miss. The rest I consider specialty lenses (soap bubbly 100 or LensBaby, anyone?)

The Samyang 75mm f/1.8 is AF.

I don't think they have a 85mm prime on the X mount, but Viltrox does. And it's also AF.
