A Reminder of Why I Bought a D500
A Reminder of Why I Bought a D500

A few years ago I splurged and bought a used D500 that was in good condition. I wanted a camera that would be as good for bird photography as I could afford. The camera had to have fast, reliable AF and speedy overall operation. The D500 was considered to be one of the best cameras for that purpose.
I went to Iona Regional Park, which is just North of YVR (Vancouver International Airport), and one of the better birding spots in the Vancouver area. Red-winged Blackbirds with Spring plumage were out in numbers that afternoon. I used my D500 and Sigma 100-400mm lens to take all of these photos. That combo really came through, giving me another reminder as to why I buying the D500 was a good choice for me.

(FWIW - a D7500 would have been a good choice too - I just about got one of those instead of the D500. And D500 prices have come down hundreds of $ since I bought mine.)
