How about an OMDS 12-40mm f/2 Pro?
1

Hi All,

Canon has its 28-70mm f/2 L lens on the market; it's a real stunner. Rumors have it that Sony has a GM 24-70mm f/2 coming maybe this year as the first in a line of super-fast zooms. Olympus gave us the SHG 14-35mm f/2 and SHG 35-100mm f/2 back in the 4/3 era. Both of those continue to be reference lenses for their type.

I once owned a 4/3 Oly ZD 35-100mm f/2 zoom. I can attest that it was a marvelous lens that my Oly 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro cannot challenge.

I would like to see OMDS dive into super-fast zooms. The obvious would be a "new" 12-40mm f/2 Pro, complemented with a 40-100mm f/2 Pro or maybe a 40-150mm f/2 Pro.

Yes, people here will scream bloody murder at the probable size and cost of such lenses. But, what's wrong with a fast zoom as an option? While the Oly 4/3 f/2 zooms were massive, I believe m4/3 versions could be smaller due to the modern relaxed requirements allowing in-camera lens corrections. The Oly f/2 zooms were highly corrected for linear distortion in their basic optical design (the right way to do it in my opinion).

There is a lot more I could say, but let's see what you have to say.

James
