Decided on a6600, now what zoom lens

While I know the a6700 is better for us AI af, faster readout, etc, I think I'll be happy with the already excellent a6600 with the blend of performance and price swaying me. I feel it's more important that I get some sharp glass. The a6600 can be had used for $650-$750 while the a6700 is in the $1100-$1350 take used and that money saved could go towards glass.

Now, I'll be photographing youth soccer. Nothing professional, just for my teens 13/14 yrs old, but fast moving young men!

I'll mostly be able to get to the sidelines, but sometimes may be 10-30 feet away on bleachers, depending on the venue.

In the other thread and reading on the forums, many have started three importance of having reach. Something I always forget when looking at the lens is for the apsc format I have to remember the crop factor. It's been a while since I've been into photography but correct me if my assumptions are incorrect. I'm assuming for example if used the Sony E 70-300 G, that my equivalent FF FL are this numbers x 1.5x (so 105-450mm).

If my assumptions are correct, asking AI, it is telling me that I need 325 ft away to fill the frame at 105mm. .. which means such a lens is only good if I am far away and needing to capture the action at the furthest distance. The long end would be overkill for my use, and the short end means action anywhere near me I cant capture.

So, with all that context above and assuming I'm correct so far, I don't think I need a lens any longer than 135-150mm (202-225 FF equivalent).

Also trying to stay as close to or under $1100.

Choices I think I have are:

  • Tamron 35-150 F2-2.8 $1300 used
  • Samyang 35-150 F2-2.8 $950 used
  • Sony e 18-135 f3.5-f5.6 $250-$300 used
  • Sony e 18-200 (there are like 3 different ones, not sure how they are differentiated yet) price?

Curious on thoughts from others for my use case. I value a sharp lens likely the biggest factor in build/price I assume.
