Faint "X" Pattern in X2D Bokeh Balls

The X2D just arrived today and in the course of just shooting some stuff around the yard, I happened to shoot a scene with some strong light points resulting in quite a few "bokeh" balls.

All well and good - until I noticed an "X" outline inside many of the larger bokeh balls. I have a question in to Hasselblad support about this and was hoping it was just an over-exposure. But then I took a look at the DPreviews' X2D sample images from last year and -- in the scene in which the cowboy gentleman is looking over his shoulder back a tree with a lot of bokeh -- I saw the exact same "X" patterns.

Here's the photo, shot at f/2.8. (And yes, the latest camera firmware was installed. The lens is the 2.8/65; no filter.)
