Canon Pro 1000 - B&W Printing/Oversize etc

I just upgraded from the Canon Pro 100 to the Pro 1000.

A discount of $300 and the capability to print 17x25" in glorious neutral B&W was enough to lure me in.

I have heard that truly neutral B&W is fairly EZ to achieve on the Pro 1000 - ? Although one business I know was overwhelmed by the apparent complexity of profiles & setup. That sounds odd to me.

I was able to get decent B&W with the Pro 100, but it had issues printing B&W at 13x25".

It has been suggested to not turn off the Pro 1000, and to make prints at least every week  to keep the inks from clogging etc (I'm a photographer, not a print shop)

I like Red River Paper. I got some oversize sheets of 13x38" Palo Duro Baryta Fiber 300, which is a slightly warm, but impressive paper (used on the Pro 100) . Anyone have paper recs?

Any issues/suggestions from experienced users of the Pro 1000?

Thanks!

Canon Pixma Pro-100
