Cattle Egrets, a Duck and something else.

Continuing on from my recent desire to reacquaint myself with manual focus lenses, a mate of mine, Dave (Dav on this forum) dug out his old Olympus OM300 f4.5 lens for me to have a play with.

I picked up the lens this morning and took it to my local lake to try it out. The lens is not as big as I expected but still a solid metal lump.

It was great fun to use, focus throw is long and smooth as, although quite firm. At f4.5 and F5.6 the lens colour fringes in high contrast situations like there's no tomorrow, pick a colour, purple, red, green but so far it's been correctable in software. I stopped it down to f8 and it pretty much went away. Out of focus rendering is nice, well I like it.

Anyway, here's some photos from my time with it this morning. Using EM1mkii, shot in Raw, light editing and downsizing in Affinity Photo 2.

Thanks Dave.

Regards  Ian Colley
