Thread #16 is now full, so this is the new Train, Plance & Tram thread #18.

And I've taken the liberty of renaming it "OFFICIAL". Somewhere along the way it became "unofficial", not sure why. As there are no other train-plane-tram threads here on DPR, let's be the official version!

So... welcome to the official Train and Plane thread. Feel free to post all of your Railroad (Railway), Aeroplane (Airplane, Plane) and Tram photos here.

Many thanks to all the loyal contributors from previous threads. It is very enjoyable to look at this genre of photography from various locations around the world.

When posting photos, it flows best if you hit "Reply to Thread" on this post then change the subject line of your post so it has a relevant title. And it would be great if you felt inclined to comment occasionally on the photos posted by others or ask questions.

All aboard!

Lan posted a nice set from Amiens just as the prior thread went out on post count. He commented on the continuing use of roundhouses and turntables. I recall seeing several in use on our previous trip to Europe and still a some just recently but no pics this time. I was particularly surprised with some being electrified.

Alas, here in the US, aside from museum or tourist railroads, they are almost all gone.

Thank you, Craig 🙂

I was lucky enough to secure a ticket to an evening photographic event at the SVR at the end of September, when they had probably the largest collection of preserved Western Region locomotives on shed at Kidderminster TMD. Here are a few of my favourites:

Quite a fund adventure as this narrow gauge rumbled forward. It departed from Durango, CO, turned around at Silverton and headed back to D-town. a long, but good day!

Here's The Jacobite en-route from Fort William to Mallaig on the West Highland Line in western Scotland, travelling over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Made famous as The Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter movies I am sure there are other similar shots posted in the past but maybe not with the autumn colour.
