Possible use of DX lens in FF mode with third party adapter

Apologies if this has been previously discussed but I have searched and can’t find an answer. I am a longtime Nikon DX DSLR user and have recently bought a Z5. I have a Tokina 11-20mm F mount DX lens that I have been informed will cover FF from about 16-20 mm and am keen to try it on the Z5. However, as I’m sure you all know, when I mount it on the Nikon FTZ the camera automatically goes to crop frame and this can’t be overridden. I wonder if using the lens in full manual mode on a third party adapter without any electronic contacts would “fool” the camera into allowing a FF rather than APS-C crop? Has anyone tried this? Any advice will be gratefully received. Many thanks.
