hi everyone,
also looking at the M50 II and the M6 II and I can see that the M6 II is indeed better overall, but can the M50 II do the basics like tracking moving people and stuff? the reason I'm asking is that I'm in a bit of a bind financially and one way to deal with this is to sell off some gear. Basically, I could use a bit of money, but I cannot spend more than the money I can get from selling off my gear. the M50 II is the more economical choice because of the savings but I just want to know if I can rely on it when I take photos of my kids and their outdoor sports (soccer, and other field games). So i'm mainly interested in the servo performance of the M50 II and M6 II. yes, the M6 II has a deeper buffer, faster fps, bigger battery, better build quality, better handling (more dials) but I think I can live with the compromises of the M50 II if it's good under the hood. I think I'm done with the gig/freelance life but I still want good photos of my family especially the kids growing up. if I go M6 II, I'm gonna have to sell my M5 and 6D II but if I go with the M50 II, I can probably keep the M5 but let the 6D II go. I'm thinking along the lines of the R8 and R6 II where although they differ greatly in certain areas, the sensor and AF performance are pretty even. sorry if i'm not making much sense...but i also figured i'd rather ask now before this forum disappears. I've been reading around for over a decade and it's actually this (M) forum that convinced me to sign up for an account last year. thanks again!
If finances were better, would you still be looking at the M50 II and M6 II, or something altogether different? Do you absolutely need two camera bodies?
Regardless of what camera you buy for an upgrade, I am not sure there is much sense in hanging on to either the 6D II or M5. If your long term plan is to stick with the M system, then I would sell both bodies as well as any unnecessary EF lenses. If you long term plan is to move to the RF system, or something else, I would just continue with what you have for the near term and save your money. Availability of M system gear, as well as the value for used gear, is not going to look dramatically different six months from now.
