Where are you going/ have gone/ will you go?

<>

I really think someone should reserve an address, and create a website dedicated to Sigma cameras.
If, by "an address" or "a website", you mean a domain or sub-domain, Scott has already done that and several others already exist.

Pardon my pedantry, Joe!
Yes, I know those exist. Actually, it sounds like people are trying to re-create at least the user forums part, or at least there is discussion of that elsewhere. You'd need to have some programming skills and at least a server with bandwidth and storage capable of displaying full size photos. I think it will happen. Something will fill the void, but I don't know what it will be or how long it will take to happen.

I am on Rangefinderforum.com too. It's a very eclectic collection of forums (with a much wider scope than rangefinders cameras) frequented by a friendly bunch of guys. The site also features a picture gallery and offers WTB and WTS classifieds. It also features great resource subforums moderated by knowledgeable experts (I love "The Camera Collector" by Jason Schneider of Modern Camera fame).

The forum just received an upgrade and the new engine works very well. It's easy to post full size images. There is a 5MB limitation but only for images hosted on the forum. Images hosted elsewhere (Flickr, Zenfolio, etc.) have no size limitation.

Cheers!

Let me add to my previous post that Rangefinderforum.com is owned by Steven Gandy, the guy who runs Cameraquest.com (https://cameraquest.com/), and also imports and sells Voigtländer lenses into the US. He took over the RFF site in January 2007 from its founder:

Steven has since showed his dedication to manage, support and enhance the site throughout the years, helped by a dynamic community of members and moderators.

Cheers!

I don't think you should rush to go somewhere else, because I don't think Dpreview should shut down. We need to take a little pause. I don't want to give the text of my post, just a link - https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66963176

New (forum) site....with also a Sigma camera section.

One other high profile poster is busy with a new website/forums...www.DPRevived.com

Well, it' s VERY new (just started because of the DPR stop). Nobody to blame yet, I think. Only reasonable to give them some time.

The admin is open to all suggestions; you could post some suggestions. I asked for a Studio and Lighting forum (which wasn't t there). 10 minutes later it was (!). Beside that, the admin is working together with the new DPRevived developer (poster Bobn2)...they want to try to merge both forums.

If bobn2 gets this to happen, it will be the place to be.

Just be patient for a bit while the rather large task is implemented.

Then migrate to DPRevived.com

Rangefinder Forum is about 16 years old. I’ve been there for 15 years.

RFF started as a rangefinder centric forum and slowly expanded over the years. A quick glance at the site’s forum list depicts RFF’s diversity.

However, RFF is a gentler and kinder environment compared to DPR. People with toxic, non-productive and, or aggressive attitudes end up banned sooner or late

… A problem with any other sites is one of obvious esthetics. They are crude formats that look like they were programmed in the 80’s.

… Dpreview is a classy, beautifully engineered site. Clean, clear, and easy to use.

Perhaps so, but moot as of April 10.

That' s what I mean. And, like I said, he' s working together with Alan (link of his forum website in my post above. I registered earlier today).

Hopefully they can merge 2 websites. They' re open to suggestions.

Posted so that Members' migration is all in one place - please put where to in the title so we can assess popularity at a glance.

Please use 'reply to thread' preferably.

For multiple destinations separate posts would help.

If you've already stated your destination in another thread, please post here too ...
With this thread, I had hoped that the response titles would collate Members' actions/intentions into a single page view.

No such luck ... so this thread merely joins a dozen others of the same ilk.

Grump ... ;-)

I would love to see you all migrate (at least some of the time) to RFF. They have a Sigma subform already, and that place has been dying a slow death lately, so you all would liven things up a bit. RFF needs new blood, as it were.

Don't feel too bad, Ted - the same thing seems to be happening in many other sub-forums. It's the nature of the beast.

… Oldwino: RF does seem a good group of people and photographers.

… However, what RF needs is a modernized, radically updated format. It looks like a cheap blog from the 80’s. You expect a Pac-Man to chew it’s way through the page.

Like many other sites of all kinds, RFF uses a popular Bulletin Board format which they can not change - other than by scrapping it and starting afresh somehow.

Judging by the current howls of dismay here about "losing information", such a fresh "modernized, radically updated format" would not be too popular with RFF users.
