Which mirrorless should I choose?
Hello everyone, I need help to decide which camera suits me as a gift for my father. My budget is tight ( I try to keep it under $1000), and I want to buy a camera that could last at least 4-5 years. I watch every video and read most reviews, including forum threads. However, each comment makes me question my decision.
History: He was a photography entuhanist 25 years ago and mainly used the Zenit brand (35mm). He took landscapes, portraits, and a little street photography. Due to economic and work conditions, he stopped his hobby, but now he is retired, and I want to give him a camera as a gift.
I found several good cameras but needed help deciding which would be better. I keep it under (or around) $1000. He will not use lightroom or other software at this moment. So he will heavily use jpeg.
My first option is the cheapest but discounted Canon M50 Mark II. I found with kit lens (18-45mm f/3.5-6.3) for $449. Also, prime lenses are cheap. It is a good option with a low price tag and alternative lenses, but it is discounted, and the image quality is not the best.
My second option is Canon R50 with a kit lens (18-45mm f/3.5-6.3) for $799. It looks good, but in reviews, they suggest R10 as a better alternative to R50, which is $999. There is no IBIS, but the automatic shoots are easy to use.
My third option is Nikon Z50 which is on sale, and the price tag is $899 with the kit lens. Also, they offer FTZ II for $149 as a bundle.
My fourth option is Canon EOS RP. I found it for $699 (body); the lenses are cheap. It is a full-frame sensor but not highly recommended. However, the price tag is in the buy budget.
My final is the most expensive one; it is over my budget, but I am still considering it—the Nikon Z6 (used body), which is $1029. The basic lenses are expensive (around $300). I also checked Nikon Z5 (as new), which is $1049, but most people suggest the Nikon Z6 over Nikon Z5. I already have a 64GB XQD card.
If you help me with your personal experiences, that would be helpful. Thank you very much!
