yes, but RF 100-400 does BIF -- your M doesn't do well

What is BIF?

Of course, you cannot compare a FF equipped with fast, expensive, heavy glass with a much poorer APSC camera. The question is do I need this level of performance?

Based on what you have written until now, I very much doubt that you do.

The only time I have felt my system's limitations are in very low light; when I have to push the ISO over 3200. I assume the new Digic X sensor even in APS-C bodies would outperform older Digic 8 sensors of the older FF cameras.

the R8 would resolve that as well as give you a better look with shallow dof to remove the clutter in the backdrop

I am just wondering. In what situations was your current system not good enough to take the photos you wanted?

My 11-22 isn't fast enough in low light. I only have the 22/2 and heavy EF 50/1.4 (which is heavy) to cover low light.

the RF 35 and RF 85 on R8 would be the answer

the issue is that the op has to chase new money into older technology that is being sunset

Agreed which is why I started this thread in the EOR R section.

you started the thread in the m section and the moderator moved it to the R section

The R8 will crush the ops technology, just as your R6II - otherwise, why did you get R6II

Agreed. The R8 will crush my system with the only challenge being above 100mm (FF equivalent). With an EF-M 55-200, I'd be able to go to 300mm (FF equivalent). I think 300mm should be all range I should need.

there are FF answers here including adapting EF/EF-s lenses like the 70-300 II

though it reduces the mpxl down to 10, I sometimes adapt my 55-250 stm on my RP

the RF 70-200 f4L is a dream lens, pop can size

the RF 100-400 gets you to 400

the RF 24-240 is a nice lens

and you can consider adapted third party long lenses
