R8 = 461 g

RF 35 f1.8 IS– 300 g

RF 85 F2 IS = 497 g

Total 1258 g

the RF 24-105 stm is just 391 g - your at 1.6 kg out the door

What about this? It's around 1800 gms (a weight I just travelled with).
Canon R8 460 gms
Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM 165 gms
Canon RF 35mm F1.8 300 gms
Canon RF 85mm F2 IS 500 gms
Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM 395 gms

65mm (APS-C equivalent) as your longest fl? That would be a no go for me. But for "only" 650g more (a total of 2450g) you could add the RF 100-400 .

That's the challenge with FF. Long glass is heavy (in this case, even at f/6.8, it's more than 600 gms). For APS-C the EF-M 55-200 is 260 gms, the RF-S 55-210 is 270 gms, and the EF-S 55-250 is 375 gms.

Canon has killed the EF-M, has only 3 lenses so far in RF-S, and the RF (FF) lenses by design would be heavier than similar lenses for APS-C sensors. I am leaning towards soldiering on with the EF-M until one of these happens.

  1. Canon releases more RF-S lenses (22/2, 11-22/4-5.6, 32/1.4, 50/1.4)
  2. Fuji releases a lightweight wide-angle zoom (16-35 equivalent).
  3. Sony releases an EVF-equipped ZV-E10.

I would miss the 32mm lens.

And I would miss the EF-M 11-22mm UWA zoom. That is my most used lens when traveling.

Does size matter to you? Or is it only weight that matters.?

Size would matter too. The object is to fit everything into a 12-litre sling. Not much bigger than the Tenba Solstice 10L, Mindshift Photocross 13, or Thinktank Turnstyle 20.
