Hi Chris,
What does "like new" mean in terms of number of mechanical shutter clicks? Total number (mechanical plus electronic)? And how old is it? Did KEH and B&H ask you about these details?
Thanks,
Rudy
Hey Rudy, basically just scratch free. I've even had a screen protector on it since day one, and do not use the articulating screen, so that is super tight. As far as shutter count, probably pretty low, as for the first several months I had it, I used strictly ES. So I dunno... maybe 30K ? From what I hear, their is no way to count electronic shutter clicks, and even if their were, that wouldn't add any additional wear to the camera. That racked up a LOT of shots quickly... which one reason I went back to mechanical. But after using my R7 for a month in ES, on the lowest sound setting, my R5 MS is just annoying
I never thought the R5 to have an annoying sound. Coming from Nikon I feel it is so soft and subtle.
To be quite honest, not only did it never bother me before, but when out shooting with it, I've had several photographers near me say, "Wow ! That's a really quiet shutter" ! At which point Id stop to think about it, and be like, "Yea, its not too bad....." Its only since I've been using my R7 in the ES mode, with the lowest volume setting, that it now seems kind of loud, and annoying. But this is still better than dead silent in the ES mode, and trying to pay attention to the thin little flickering frame around the image in the viewfinder. Neither option is optimal IMPO.
Do you actually pay attention to the "thin little flickering frame" or do you just note it's there and go on? You're not actually trying to count shots, right?
All I want to know is that's the shutter is going. I don't care to know the number of shots taken in a burst, so having the sound at all is annoying to me.
