Viltrox still has the new firmware in Beta, but they released a second version of it on March 6th. I installed it and noted the focus speed has improved somewhat, and the lens does lock on faster without as much hunting. It's not up to my 56/1.2, but it's very good.

The issues surrounding the update bricking the lens seem to trace back to the updates being done with Apple computers, so i presume Viltrox didn't certify the update on Macs and something is going on with the transfer process.

Recommendations seem to be to update the firmware via a Windows computer until they get this sorted out.

Where do I find the second version of the update? I saw on Viltrox website they had 1.0.1 version, but that seems like the first beta.

Also, where do I download the old version in case I need to revert back?

Here's the link to the new firmware:

and the original firmware:

Enjoy

Thank you! Just finished the update and the lens does seem snappier/more confident.

By the way, the link to the new firmware you provided seems to point to fred miranda. I just copied the text and pasted into a new tab to get to the right place.
