Even my little Ricoh GR2 could be made to work without a screen, so you could just look through an optical viewfinder if you want and take pictures without being distracted. I didn't need to cover up the LCD to get the job done, so it was of course able to show image review when I was ready. Ricoh understands photographers the way Leica does, and has managed to get many Leica users on board who appreciate the aesthetics/nice process of such photography.

Of course the R6 is capable, but low scoring reviews can help purchasers and camera development far more than normal ones imo.

How many of you would be inconvenienced if Canon added option 6 to the info screen options? None.

I should have been more clear. I generally take rubbish photos with any screen held at arms length, whether phone or camera it doesn't matter. I can't seem to shut out the world and focus on the composition. So anything which distracts me from getting my eye to the viewfinder or causes me to snap a photo without doing so, is just getting in the way. Doesn't meam the photo will be technically bad, it just probably won't be great.

So why are you taking photos at arms length using the rear lcd screen, just use the viewfinder. This makes no sense at all...

Precisely. The OP seems to be saying that if anything at all is on the rear screen, even just shooting information and no actual picture (which is one of the 5 options he’s moaning about being limited to), he is somehow physically incapable of lifting the camera to his eye, which would switch off the rear screen and activate the EVF. He is simply compelled by some evil force to use the rear screen to compose, which would be pretty difficult, if he does have the shooting info only option enabled. So perhaps we’ve finally hit on the reason his pictures are rubbish (his words, remember). He’s holding the camera at arm’s length, staring at a screen with only numbers on a black background, and trying to compose that way. Poor guy. Instead of mocking him, we should set up a fund to get him help.

I've set the rear lcd brightness down to zero and left it on menu screen. I'd really like it to work but its not there yet for me I think. The ovf sim of the mark ii would help a lot I think, as would higher res evf as I have much better than average eyesight...but I can't sensibly pay for an R3 which is the only current camera to have ovf sim and higher resolution right now. I've played with an R3 and really loved it so have high hopes for the R5 ii.

Its not all bad with the R6 of course. Perhaps I should have increased the score to reflect that. The focus is mostly outstanding, although it would be nice to have some cross type points for horizontal subjects. When it works, eye focus is great, I understand the mark ii eye focus ai works more reliably in low light/backlit situations. I love the speed that the single point af can be moved by joystick or screen, I'veincreased mine to max in the menu. Also its my first time with manual focus peaking and manual focus triangles and I love that. Its liberating not to worry about depth of field and just snap away, similar to working with the GR series but arguably better.

I would love it if focus peaking could be activated in autofocus during manual overide. Afterall, full time manual focus overide after autofocus lock is one of Canon's strengths versus Sony afaik. Focus peaking option here -i.e. after lock on and turning the lens focus ring- would be very useful to give more confidence with overiding the focus for tricky or erratic portrait subjects.
