“Improve Apps”? Are they devout members of the Church of Lie Your Butt Off?
Maybe they're just listening to the people who say
Canon apps are abysmal. No.. English doesn’t have a word to describe how bad their software is. DPPro is completely unusable. Their Canon Connect should be called Canon Disconnect.
DPP4 is a good RAW converter with rudimentary tarting up facilities and doesn't impose a filing system on me, for which I'm eternally grateful. My 3+ year old Windows laptop has no trouble with it, my 4½ year old Windows tablet/laptop is OK, but better used for batch processing. Definitely not unusable with a proper computer.
The worst thing about Canon Connect is its Bluetooth initial connection (ironically it's there to simplify things) which means any previous Bluetooth connection (car radio, music headphones, hearing aids etc.) has to be forgotten before you use it. Canon Utilities is more versatile but even clunkier if I try to use it wirelessly within range of my domestic wireless network.
The mobile device needs to forget other BT connections?
We've not noticed such a thing if I understand you correctly.
I wish DPReview would review this software. With his wry wit, Alastair could write an exceptional review of it all, I’m sure. “If I were reviewing deodorant, the contents of my septic tank would beat the extreme stinkiness of Canon’s software.”
So what you're saying is that they need to improve their apps. And Canon say they plan to. And the trouble with that is?...
