You're being very generous there with 'clunkier'! I really wish Canon made using an existing wifi network both easier and more reliable.

Canon was very close with this on the M50: it had a 'wifi' button, that when pushed would connect using a preconfigured config, including connecting to an existing wifi network. On my R5 I have to go into the menu, select connect and then click 'Yes', 'OK', Yes', 'Yes', 'Yes, really', 'No I don't have any Nikon gear nearby', 'Connect!!!!' for it to take 2 minutes to connect.

A wifi mode where it connect to a wifi network and then goes into powersave mode would be a great improvement. It would allow me to stay inside when checking if the camera trap triggered or not
