Re: Canon R5 -using EF lenses?

I’m fine with the EF lenses I have now which work great on both my cameras (R3 and 1DX II). They are a little nicer / better on the R3, bar the adapter “hassle” (which I’m now used to), and with the advantage of no micro-adjust to have to mess with.

That said, the original EF 24-70 was never my favourite lens, hence I upgraded to the II version which is much sharper and has more reliable AF than my copy. The internal zoom of the original was clever though.

I also used to have the EF 70-200 IS and really only replaced it with the II due to age. Although again the IQ was a little better.

As for advice, I’d take them along to the gig if I were you and see for yourself. I doubt anyone will complain about the results - us photographers are generally the critical ones!
