IMHO the faster 70-200 will be great for events, sports and portraiture. However you already have the 135/2L and the R5 to boot so that combo is excellent for outdoor portraits. Do you shoot in that indoor rodeo all the time? That's a sporting event the 70-200/2.8 should be good at.

I have both EF 135 and 70-200/2.8 and for outdoor portraits I usually pick up the prime. The telezoom is heavy so I hardly use it. For cultural events I take it but that is only once or twice a year.

Even for sports like outdoor tennis I favour the 135 with or without the 1.4XII TC.

Good luck in whatever decision you make.

For indoor rodeo, the shallower depth of field of f/2.8 will produce better photos.

yeah. That's one great thing about the R5---there's cropping power for the 135 and of course the 70-200/2.8 will have composing advantage.
