Thanks all.

Unfortunately I really don't like looking at the q menu screen, it looks too busy and for some weird reason amateurish or overly digital. I think I still prefer the process of a DSLR without live view on unless I ask for it.

Really disappointing. I would have bought the R6II just to get the OVF viewfinder and better af.

I don't really want to turn off the screen completely as I want the kids to be able to use it for selfies, and don't want to allocate a button for it, as I have no spare buttons, and why should I when the info button is already supposed to toggle between lcd states. But twisting it round is annoying as no touch and drag af...

I am either going to wait for the R5II and spend more money than I should, or look elsewhere. I was interested in the R8 and R50 as an extra small camera too, but I expect they will also lack this option. Seems so stupid.

You can have the info screen but have it so it black out when your eye is to the viewfinder. You can also have the camera go into standby after a few seconds so the rear screen goes black. The R6II and R7 wake up almost instantly when you touch the shutter button so it is not really an issue most of the time and saves a lot of battery.
