imnotmarvin,   I loved your post.  Lens and camera reviews carry little weight with me. They are fun to read but that's about it. There was a time when almost all reviews came via print magazines. As the four or five magazines arrived at my house I'd skim them unless an article or review caught my eye. Now we are inundated with "reviews" online. I like Steve Huff because he is into Leica. I'm older so Hugh Brownstone's casual nontechnical conversations still work for me. My pet peeve is when a "reviewer" posts his/her opinions on a lens relying strictly on press release specs and it is something they have never held in their hands. Lens reviews without a single sample photo are also annoying.

About lenses,  If I never hear about "corner sharpness" again I'll be fine. Camera wise I am sick of the megapixel race. In the end it is more fun to chase good photos rather than gear. I'm older with a couple of big health issues. Any time the weather cooperates and I can be out taking a few photos I'm happy. Even my tired old 12 mega-pixel Leica X1 fixed lens still sparks joy (thank you Marie Kondo) when I am out shooting with it.

Good thread!
