Take your comment about understanding ISO; do you believe you're changing your sensor's sensitivity to light or amplifying the signal (and noise) generated by light? You couldn't be blamed for believing the first because that's the predominant explanation of ISO in digital photography despite being wrong.
Probably only from my technical background, I sussed out the difference although I don't think anyone ever spelled it out as such before you. ISO meant one thing with film, and another with digital, but as part of figuring out exposures, the difference is pretty universally glossed over as far as I can tell.
Somehow I think Fujifilm's "film simulations" helped me digest all of this easier. Back in the day, the ISO you'd get would be based on the film in the camera. But so would black-and-white vs color, or the color profile in general. So while a digital camera still has a literal shutter (for now...) and a literal aperture, ISO is sort of a film simulation, in a manner of speaking. At least that's how I make sense of it. The fact that, in the Fujifilm system, you can simulate more than just the ISO of film is just icing on the cake.
With that out of the way, congratulations on the new kit. I think you'll be very pleased. I moved over from Nikon in 2017 and was wary of the EVF. Now I rely on it. I love zooming to the focus point to check/adjust focus in the EVF. We have an amazing array of tools at our disposal now, despite what a few may say.
Thanks for that. To be honest I'm still a little wary of the EVF even after using it a few times, but I'm sure comfort will grow as long as it keeps delivering.
