How about the ability to turn on lens IS with body IS turned off? It seems it would be so simple to implement.

Do you not think many of the systems would be affected?

How so? The IBIS already is locked if lens IS is turned off. So what would be so difficult about keeping it locked if some firmware switch were enabled instead? Six of one, half a dozen of the other, it seems to me. What am I missing?

I don't think Sony or Nikon allow it either (from a quick Google search), so that would suggest they have seen something they can't easily circumvent. I think its reasonable to believe there is an underlying obstruction to allowing freedom of IS/IBIS.

What is the use case for this feature? Why would someone want to turn off one or the other which would reduce the capability of the combined system.  I suspect that they don't offer it because it complicates the system without providing any real benefit.

Think about it, they would now need to develop, test, deploy and maintain three separate IS setups for each lens. Different servo gain settings etc.  Without a real strong use case, this is crazy.
