In a YT video Jan Wegener shot gulls in flight without noticing any rolling shutter effect. My Nikon 1V3 (2014) had 12.5 ms. A little ahead of the R5, and the RS is acceptable. So I really hope for a R7 ii at the same level, or better. Take your time, Canon, I can wait until 2025.

This is with the R5 and that sign wasn’t tilted in real life. Great Egrets aren’t terribly fast and with many backgrounds it’s not so noticeable but rolling shutter is there.

Okay, but you didn’t say… we’re you using MS, or ES ???

Ah yes, ES, I don’t see this effect with EFCS. Haven’t really used MS.

Okay, yes. I’ve used MS with my R5 95% of the time. ES 5%, and never EFCS….

My R5 kills me with the completely silent electronic shutter !

I love the completely silent shutter, what kills me is that 20fps kind of drowns me in photos lol. Sure would love to be able to slow down the frame rate in ES.

And the thing is, both the silent shutter that bugs me so much, and the 20 fps, which I agree is a little much, should be able to be rectified with a simple software fix ?

Hey, back in the day, folks used to take some of this stuff into their own hands and write their own software fixes. Wasn't there a thing called Magic Lantern ? I don't remember what cameras that was for, but it was not a mirrorless. Has anything like that been done for a mirrorless ?

Yep, the good old days
