Being relatively new to Canon do these take place with all formats of shooting i.e. raw and all jpeg settings? e.g. Apparently the 16mm f2.8 RF needs a lot of distortion correction and I wouldn't want to mess around in pp with a load of raw files correcting it.

I strongly recommend using DXO for the 16 F2.8. The results are remarkable. You get sharpness pretty much across the whole frame. I have DXO Photolab set up so that lens corrections are automatically applied to all camera/lens combinations. I don't have to turn anything on.

With DXO you can correct in DXO  to any degree desired.  They do great job so none of the new lenses with horrid corners are dealt with no intervention.  DXO is my goto editor for RAW files.
