Greg and Morris, very much appreciate the kind comments. To answer the question, yes, this was taken with a tripod. The areas we used to exposure when looking for owls were almost universally fairly dark, plus the early evening was usually the best time to find these guys. Thus, light was very challenging and a tripod all but mandatory, even if you were using a camera that supported IBIS.
