Not looked at Fuji for a long time but was in London at the weekend and dropped into the Fuji store for a look around. The X-H2 has 40mp, correct? But when I look at the dpr sample scene they look soft and lacking detail? For 40mp was expecting a lot more? There are no X-T5 samples in the test scene so far, so wondering if dpr has a bad camera/lens?

Be interested in user feedback, as it might make a cool second body but if the results are typical, can't see much point over the 26mp options. There was a lot of interest in the x100 camera when I was in the shop!

and samples but apologies I'm not sold on the 40mp sensor and will wait to see if they introduce a new 26mp sensor. I get the feeling its showing some sort of diffraction in a lot of the images but can't be certain to know if its that or something else that causing the effect.

There are lots of bad examples, and good examples with bad processing out there. A 40MP sensor is going to be more reliant on good lenses, and shooting/post processing technique for an optimal result, but will never be softer than a 26MP sensor with the same lenses. A lot of people are processing with the same sharpening/NR settings as with their old sensors which can significantly limit the rendering fine detail. While diffraction can be resolution limiting factor, it will never produce a worse result than with 26MP, it will only limit how much better it can be.
