I just picked up a new XF 10-24mm f4 WR yesterday and I have been taking a lot of random test shots around my home, (the weather is too cold and nasty for outside testing). Very impressed with the build quality of the lens so far and based on my indoor shots it appears to be a keeper. However it appears to me that shooting with the electronic shutter produces consistently slightly sharper images than when using the mechanical shutter.

Is this a case of shutter shock affecting the image perhaps? My camera is the X-T2.

Yes, it's highly likely a consequence of shutter shock.

I noticed that shutter shock can be a real issue at certain shutter speeds, with certain lenses and bodies.

I don't own the X-T2, but a X-T20, X-E4 and X-S10.

The X-S10 with the 16-80 is particularly prone to shutter shock for instance. It's actually so bad that I never shoot with the mechanical shutter anymore. I don't like surprises and I don't enjoy zooming on the photo after each shot to check whether it suffers from shutter shock or not. Since I only shoot with the electronic shutter, I haven't had a single instance of blurry picture.
