Well, finally bought the R6 MK2. Likely not going to use the 6D (v1) again but will keep as backup.
I am most looking forward to the eye-tracking, IBIS, lighter weight, better AF in very low light and not having to worry about lens adjustments.
Sticking to my EF lenses for now. Want to see how my non-IS lenses perform like the 200 2.8L, 400 5.6L and 70-200 f4 non-IS. Even the original Canon 100 2.8 Macro non-IS.
Like most of my previous purchases within the last 16 years, plan to keep this camera for 8 years or more.
Congrats on your new R6II ... please post your findings, especially as you upgrade from the 6D. I've used the 6D since it first came out and following a low light concert event this weekend I plan to sell the 6D/24-105, 80D/18-135, and a few unused lenses to fund the next upgrade. The R8 is appealing but the R6II might be the better long term choice. I've read the reviews - now I'm looking for reports from owners.
Thanks. I have used the 6D at ISO 25,000 and Hi-1 and Hi-2 in the last month photographing a boreal owl after it leaves the roost. This normally happens after the sun has set and light is poor. This with the Canon 70-200 2.8L IS III handheld.
I am looking for the extra AF sensitivity in low light of the R6 II vs the 6D (v1). Also, the eye focus in poor light and shooting at a sharp angle - and knowing the R6 II AF will grab the eyes and ensure it is sharp.
The boreal owl is expected to be around for another week or two so it will give me time to test the R6 II on it.
My top priority is low-light performance which is why I chose the R6 II over the R5 or upcoming R5 II.
