Not looked at Fuji for a long time but was in London at the weekend and dropped into the Fuji store for a look around. The X-H2 has 40mp, correct? But when I look at the dpr sample scene they look soft and lacking detail? For 40mp was expecting a lot more? There are no X-T5 samples in the test scene so far, so wondering if dpr has a bad camera/lens?
Be interested in user feedback, as it might make a cool second body but if the results are typical, can't see much point over the 26mp options. There was a lot of interest in the x100 camera when I was in the shop!
“…they look soft and lacking detail”
in my 16 years and using just about every system(yes, i tried every brand of cameras, both SLR/Mirrorless) I’m yet to see images from any system lacking detail or looking soft due to the sensor. It’s kind of hard to take anyone seriously with these statements.
I just upgraded from an XT4(26MP BSI) to the xH2 and immediately saw better IQ even on the tiny 3” screen.
OK, but I can't see it myself, not sure if its diffraction or what it is but to my eyes its very soft, almost blurred. I am a little puzzled that to get the recent performance lift and ai functions you need also to either buy the stacked option or the 40mp versions. Are there any plans to make a 26mp non-stacked version with the functionality of the X-H2/X-T5?
Even if there was no increase in perceptual resolution with the 40mpx sensor it is definitely no worse than the 26mpx sensor.
You aren’t paying any more money for the sensor. Fuji would charge the same amount for the cameras regardless if they used the old 26mpx sensor or newer 40mpx sensor.
