Of course EF is supported, Canon is still trying to sell EF lenses and six models of DSLRs, even if they're not designing any new ones.

I might have been too rushy in saying "Not supported anymore" But there's been a big cut in production last year:

People aren't buying them, which makes it difficult for Canon to sell them, but EF lenses are definitely supported on both Canon's mirrorless systems and on their video cameras. And Tamron and Sigma EF mount lenses were never welcomed by Canon either, they had to reverse engineer their way in.

That's always been the case, but this time it's a matter of not infringing Canon's AF patent. Samyang had to pull its reverse-engineered AF lenses off the market because of that and now it's got manual focus lenses only.

there likely won't be any more firmware update relative to EF lenses (last one was 1.5.x)

?

Do you see any reason why canon should release new updates to the R cameras firmwares related to EF mount, after all this time? By "support" I mostly meant that. If it works, fine. If it ain't, your problem. There are already old EF lenses that cannot benefit of the full features (like shooting at 8fps instead of 12) and never will. Let's say EF is phasing out
