Why would you sell your gear? Canon is most certainly still going to offer optional extended warranty packages on purchases. They arent going to make you pay for warranty service, only services outside of warranty.

The change seems to reflect the original intent of the program itself, supporting businesses and career photography in fields that would actually need regular service and repairs, expedited, to keep businesses operational.

Of course, it's also a matter of appreciation. I'm already into Platinum status.
In the last few months I had to realize that my membership points were decreasing for inexplicable reasons and were changed from Platinum to Gold status before I bought the RF 400 2.8.
It was a unique selling point of Canon - at least as far as I know - to offer corresponding added value via the service.
As a financially strong private owner I’ll have no access to this theoretical service in future.
That is regrettable.
Especially since sensor cleaning and a careful, quick repair should be a matter of course in this price range anyway and you shouldn't be relieved of paying any extra money.

On the question of why I would sell my stuff.
Well, I am at least considering it.
I get the impression that Canon only values you as an entrepreneur. I, with my equipment of about 25k euros, am just second class and not able to benefit the new strategy - at least that's the first impression.

Sometimes it is funny to read what arguments are found for the manufacturer. Ever thought about the fact that it is precisely not the target group that has brought Canon to where they are now. Or is Canon only for professionals anymore?

Bit of a hissy fit! You have some wonderful equipment so enjoy it instead of moaning about something you haven’t really used so haven’t really lost! FFS!

Regarding my gear you are right. About Canon, I am not sure anymore.

It is not that I am not happy with my gear, it is the way Canon is acting, treating people who spent a lot of money for their products.

Not used in the past doesn’t mean that you haven’t a need to be a part of these preferred service. We are with these products on a luxury level. These means, special treatment of customers, not kicking them…

Staying with Canon means following their kind of doing business and treating their private customers.
And Yes it is a personal decision which will be made in near future. Can’t see any hissy fit or moaning. It is a pure financial decision where to spent my money, like the shareholders do.

If there is no benefit for me, I step out.

So are other camera gear producers offering what Canon did that's comparable?
