Hi everybody.

I got a newsletter where canon said that they will change my CPS account. In future they will charge for their service🤬.

They say that CPS members who are not professionals, or who do not need the professional service, can choose to be a member of an exclusive Canon Club🫣☹️

I think about to sell my gear.

What do you think?

I received the same email today, I guess we all did (in Europe).

I'm not going to sell anything as a result, but I've been saying in other threads that I'm not too enthusiastic about any further financial commitment to the RF mount. And now this. Canon seems to be hell-bent on alienating its customer base.

It took a bit of reading that one. Seems CPS is still sort of free IF you are the sort of person to actually use the free servicing such as sensor cleaning. This is because the fee includes a set amount of servicing equaling the value of the fee. Plus they add in free shipping.

What do I loose by no longer being a member? Very little really. I’ve not used any of the benefits in years. I do agree however it is pish poor PR adding to the pish poor PR from the third party lens stuff. Really not good for their image.

For those that don’t want to spend out on CPS they offer the Canon Club membership. I’ve not really looked at what it gives us. Seems a lot of marketing crap but there are a few good bits hidden in there. Not that I will bother with them either. I get fed up with being sold at.

I received this email on the exact same day that I received notification that the incredible new OM 90 mm 2:1 macro will be shipping in the UK this week...

It does look fantastic. OM seem to be doing great these days. With such a small market share they have to shine to build. I really hope they manage it.
