3mm on the wide end does not sound like a lot - but big difference in usefulness to these 2 lenses.

It is, if you don’t have an option for wider. Hopefully Canon fixes this sooner than later.

The 3mm argument isn’t a strong one, ask any 18-150 owner. I’ve owned a 10/10 copy of both the 15-45 and 18-150, the 18-150 is wayyyy more useful.

Only if one never needs anything more than slight wide angle - with the constriction of 18mm quite often the only option is panorama stitching.

I've owned both - and now sold the 18-150, keeping the EFM 15-45 and 11-22.

I like the footprint of the 15-45 better.

When I need wider? Mount the 11-22, except the RF-S doesn’t have one yet.

exactly my point plus changing lenses a pain

Have to support this. In my crop times my first zoom lens was a terrible EF-S 18-55 which was a kit lens for EOS 300D. Soon after swithing to 30D I changed the 18-55 for EF-S 15-85 and the leap in wide angle was really notable. The difference between 24mm and 28.8mm (FF equiv) is significant.

Especially when someone likes to shoot it wide.

And I would not recommend to buy lenses which zooms end / start around most used FL.
