Hi.....I am looking for some kind of R strap or holder type system for a R3 with 100-500 lens attached, that is safe and reliable. I plan on doing slow and steady hikes in tropical areas for up to 4 hours, and would like to go hands free (using trekking poles) as much as possible but have the camera there ready, but dont want the weight of it hanging around my neck. Alternatively, I will have a 1DX2/100-400 that is heavier.
Any suggestions or recommendations for a strongly built female, 5'4! I will most likely have a small backpack on as well........
thanks.....
I use this strap from Optech and really like it, reasonably priced also.

I use three different sling type straps on my R5 and RF 100-500. The OpTech mentioned above, a Peak Design sling and a Black Rapid sling. All work about the same. The OpTech is the cheapest. All put the weight of the camera and lens on my left shoulder and allow the gear to hang on my right side. I've hiked for miles with each system and find that they may swing a bit but is not a problem. The BR system limits you to a sling strap. The Peck Design can be easily reconfigured from sling to neck or shoulder strap. In order to do the same for the OpTech system probably requires buying a couple of different connectors and unclipping and reclipping the connectors to convert from a sling strap to either a shoulder strap or a neck strap.
