I come from 7 D II +  EF 100 - 400  L IS Mk II + EF 100 L IS macro(I've kept for low security environments) . I used both lenses adapted on R5 and have been struggling with the critical AF precision both in macro and tele. Bought RF 100 macro and RF 100 - 500 and both seem to function better on R5 (which I had recalibrated by Canon).

I got the R7 when it came out and I'm much happier now. Works also better with the adapted lenses. Although it could be because I learned a lot with the R5.

I only shoot wildlife, macro, close-up and tele. R7 ticks more boxes for me. Landscapes or short walks are for the Sony RX 10 IV  = '1 to shoot them all'. R5 will be backup for low light and night photography.

I'd be happier with an R7 II with ergonomics & weathersealing  identical tot the R5, but I'd be torn if an R5 II came out with (still) higher MP and an inbuilt digital teleconvertor (if it were any good).
