I mostly use the R5 (paired with the RF 100-500 or EF 400 2.8 iii), only reaching for the R7 if I need the extra reach or as a lightweight walk around setup coupled with the RF 100-400.

The things I am disappointed with on the R7 are rolling shutter, very noisy mechanical shutter, lack of third control wheel, inferior viewfinder, lack of battery grip and small buffer. Yes, I know those things all save cost but I would rather have spent more for a crop sensor camera better matched to the R5.

For me, I'd add tracking to your list (for my list). My R5 just plain tracks better than does my r7, even though the r7 has better AF features. I don' t use ES at all anymore on the r7

Interesting. When I first started shooting with my rented R7, the MS was so loud and annoying, almost "alarming" ! I wondered if it was actually supposed to sound that way, or was it malfunctioning ? .... Plus, even more importantly, I was getting almost NO sharp shots below 1/250th ! I quickly switched to ES, and never looked back. If EVER my new R7 shoots another frame with MS, it will almost certainly be by accident lol

When I first got my r7...it had "repeated shutter", where I'd get on the shutter button and left off, and the r7 just kept shooting and tracking until it filled the buffer.  Eventually it quit doing that. It wasn't a problem at all when I went to FL for a photography vaca in January.

I don't do a lot of BIF stuff, but I did actually get some surprisingly good shots of Buffleheads In-flight, at the equivalent of 1280mm, with my RF 800 F11. With a little more time and effort, I'm sure I could have gotten some ringers of those. Zero problems with rolling shutter on those.

BIF is practically all I do except in summer, when birds are hard to see here, so then I do a lot of macro...and the r7 is just fine for that.  I do too have the RF 800 F11, but that lens is too inconsistent for me...it might be due to thermal distortion sometimes, or just poor light the other times, but I feel I get better consistency on my 100-500 or either of my two EF primes (I'm wondering if this is just the curse of too much reach).  Also, my rf 800 F11 pulls to the right when I fire the shutter button, so I may sell it and get another copy.  I think putting that lens on the r7 is just asking for trouble if you point it at very distant subjects.  Having said that, I have gotten a lot of great shots on that lens, but mostly with the r5.

About the only thing Id be tempted to use MS for, would be Hummingbirds In-flight.... but Id almost sure use my R5 for that anyway. One of the few things I'd use my R5 for now actually... hate to say it.

and instead go for 15 fps on EFCS or MS. I probably will devote my r7 exclusively to macro since I don't enjoy having to have sound while shooting animals and being slightly limited by buffer size.
