When you buy a new R5 what is the standard configuration? EFCS?

I don’t know offhand. My guess is EFCS, but we shouldn’t base our decisions from the manufacturer default. If I was a marketing person at Canon, I wouldn’t pick electronic shutter as the default, because people will think the silence means the camera isn’t working. If the camera is fully electronic shutter, I’d default to playing a beep so that customers know the camera is working. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best setting to use.

I cannot read their minds, but my point is that we’re the operators and we should base our decisions on our own know-how, not the default. Otherwise, we can buy fully auto cameras, which don’t have three dials ten buttons and a joystick.

Generally, the defaults are simply the most generic choices.

Agree but in this case I'm thinking the " standard" is the best option for me that usually like to shoot landscapes EFCS will work in 14 bits against Electronic this is a big plus

I agree that EFCS is the almost always the best setting for the R5, I just don’t base the decision on what Canon’s default might be.
