I have the R5, R and R7, and shoot primarily landscapes, trains and flowers.  I use EFCS 100% of the time.  So far as I recall, the R5 and R7 came from the factory in EFCS, and I've never felt a need to change.

I should note that when I got my cameras I actually thought that they came from the factory set to MS, and it took me some months before I realized that that wasn't the case, and the only reason I discovered they came from the factory in EFCS was when I decided to play with the R7's shutter setting due to the shutter shock.  Oh well.
