I know the upgrade to RF will not be major for me but image stabilization for events with people is what I look forward to. I have IS on the RF 70-200f2.8 and it is delightful when it makes a difference. It rarely does harm. I am always wanting to get the shots better with a higher yield. Nothing is perfect though. It always depends on your budget, importance and convenience of the shots which is the best for you and your situations.
Actually for bird of prey the RF 70-200f2.8 may be better. There plenty of light and very little value in shallow depth of view in many of those shots. However, for the small birds in trees I was after sometimes the f1.8 may given you a good uncluttered look with the shallow depth of field.
I'd have assumed that focal length would have trumped most other dimensions. I guess it depends where you are / what type of birds... but I have found often even 400/500mm to be wanting
Sometimes cellphone or G5XII is best. It all depends.
I hope your are in the March shipment along with me.
Well surprise! Adorama has just charged my card! They say they are preparing shipment and it should leave their warehouse in 1 or 2 days... fingers crossed!
Congratulations!! I just checked my B&H Photo account and my RF 135 is still there with no change. It seems the new shipment arrivals are just trickling in with small volumes.
I ordered on Nov 6, just four days after announcement. Maybe the first day sales backlog was much bigger than I expected.
Let's wait till it is in my grabby grubby hands before we celebrate
I ordered on the day of announcement, but an issue with the Adorama card made me waste 3 hours and I guess that's why I didn't get it in the very first batch.
Oh well
Waiting for newly released gear seems to have become a fact of life now
You were day one. That explains why we who bought 4 days later are way down the list. The drama is not over for you until you have a chance to try it out a little bit. I expect it to live up to your dreams. As you say the next step is for you get the lens in your hands.
