I think many posters are too optimistic here. Canon have consistently tried to push users to purchase more expensive gear. The SL3 infamously did away with the center firing pin on its hotshoe, forcing users to use E-TTL speedlites and flash triggers. Now the R50 has simply no more pins - you either get the expensive EL-5, or purchase an adapter. Some of their entry-level cameras have no filter plate on the sensor anymore, pushing users to (ideally) hire cleaning services from Canon. They shipped 5 models without the option to record 24p footage, because "users wouldn't need those". They're always, constantly, consistently trying to remove stuff that can lead to upselling, or make the use of legacy gear more difficult.

I very much doubt that the R7/6/5/3/etc. family will ever lose EF compatibility, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least for the cheaper cameras. It might start gradually, maybe with restrictions on continuous shooting and video AF, until they finally drop compatibility altogether. I think it's tragic that Canon didn't implement the Sony approach, putting limitations on adapted/third party lenses from the beginning, and thus pretty much guaranteeing a space for all of them: older A-mount for loyalists, third party lenses for people who can't or won't pay a lot, and full performance on the most expensive gear.
