I received mine yesterday from Adorama. Order placed on 11/2/2022 at around 6AM (Puerto Rico)
Lucky you! I guess the representatives there are either not entirely honest or not in the know...
I ordered around noon Nov 6. Four days of procrastination on my part. I am hoping for a big ships near the end of the month going to B&H Photo.
I have the EF adapted Sigma 135f1.8 and the Canon EF 135f2. Neither has IS. I expect the focus to be faster/maybe more accurate and the IS being useful for indoor shooting.
Yesterday, while I am waiting for my rf lens I shot with the Sigma 135 and give provides great sharpness and overall rendering. However, The adapted Sigma 135 is bigger (3.6x5.4" vs 3.5x5.1") and heavier (2.5 vs 2.1lbs) than the RF135.

But I am not going to buy another 135mm lens while I am waiting for the new RF one...
Those 2 shots looks amazing but when I zoomed in the eagle (is it an eagle?) was a bit soft / blurred... not sure if it was the distance or 1/1250 wasn't fast enough or if the AF was off a bit?
I agree. It think 1/1250 is not fast enough for the diving red winged hawk. ISO 3200 is what would prefer for diving birds of prey but I was not prepared for this hawk because at the time I was shooting some small birds nearby perched in a tree and I wanted the depth of field so the aperture was stopped down too much. I had no time for changes. I swung around and shot with what I had for set.
On my prior shots of the red-winged hawks the sun was always in the wrong location for good exposure of their underside. Lots of the are too dark to see the red tint.
Despite the minor blur when pixel peeping I was happy with the shot. My objective that day was to use my Sigma 135f1.8 for these shots. I ordered the RF135f1.8 which I hope is faster focus than the Sigma. The Sigma is a fine lens but no stabilization and it most likely slower focus than the RF135.
Agreed on shutter speed and on the fact that I would have kept those as well!
I don't do much bird photography but when I do, as you have experienced, it's very rare that the light is right as in your 2 images here.
I hope the RF 135 proves to have very fast AF, faster than the 2 1.2 primes. But the presence of IS wouldn't help in BIF images.
I've seen some dealers say that a new batch of the RF 135 may come beginning of march. Here's to hoping mine will be in that lot
I know the upgrade to RF will not be major for me but image stabilization for events with people is what I look forward to. I have IS on the RF 70-200f2.8 and it is delightful when it makes a difference. It rarely does harm. I am always wanting to get the shots better with a higher yield. Nothing is perfect though. It always depends on your budget, importance and convenience of the shots which is the best for you and your situations.
Actually for bird of prey the RF 70-200f2.8 may be better. There plenty of light and very little value in shallow depth of view in many of those shots. However, for the small birds in trees I was after sometimes the f1.8 may given you a good uncluttered look with the shallow depth of field.
Sometimes cellphone or G5XII is best. It all depends.
I hope your are in the March shipment along with me.
