If the M50 wasn't good enough for footprint/IQ ratio, the R50 will be even worse. A bigger mount with less good glass, while phones are still getting better. You can cheat with "RAW"-files in stead of RAW-files, but at the end of the day it's a totally unappealing camera. A bit smaller lens isn't enough to change that. It has to compete against full frame (including that small RF 24-50mm, but also with very affordable used RP bodies), with phones, but also with used M-stuff with it's wonderful glass. Good luck.
Appreciated.
I’m gonna wait a bit; in no hurry to replace my portable option at this time. Perhaps Sony will step up… Blasphemy, I know. Rumor has it next month they drop their new stuff.
if small crop works for you, great
if it doesn't - that is where expectations fall short -like what is occurring in link below

I’m still hoping some one does a new crop or even FF fixed lens option. Rumor has it Canon is working on the former, Sony on the latter. Either fits the bill.
Think G1X IV or RX1 successor. Both are speaking my language.
R50 and R8 are interesting though. I’m pretty happy with what I have now though. Maybe I should be happy till I’m not
whatever floats your boat ...
for me, FF and L rules
A7C is FF, not Canon though obviously. Samy primes aren't "cold" in their color drawing unlike a lot of Sony glass.
If Sony fixes menus and whatnot? Yup.
old style ergonomics held me back
also focus acquisition in low light for f4 zooms is trailing
and you are missing out on backups for your main event R3
just get R8 - you'll have backup and a puppy to walk about with
